Values Education – A Creative Approach

cre8.ed has produced two resource books available separately for primary and secondary schools applying the cre8.ed methodology to Values Education. Selected values are drawn from the ‘Statement of Values by the National Forum for Values in Education and the Community’ as summarised in the National Curriculum handbook for Teachers (SCAA 1999).

The resources start from, and explore, biblical texts as a foundation for personal and social values. The resources then show how the text can be developed in the four arts disciplines (art, dance, music and drama) for various age groups. By using the creative arts, pupils can respond at their own level and in a way which is appropriate to their own faith, whatever that may be.

The resources can be used by specialists and non-specialists teaching PSHE, Citizenship, RE or the arts. They provide an example of a process which can then be developed for other themes.

Writers of the ‘Values Education – A Creative Approach’ resource books include Jenny Pestridge, Karen Underwood, Trevor Cooling, Neil Ruckman, Dominique Bernadin, Adam Bird, Paul Hobbs, Janet Stickley, Heather Ellis, Karen Walshe and Rob Freathy.

Price: £10 including postage and packing. Cheques payable to ‘cre8.ed Ltd’.
